Upgrading your shower glass panels and doors is a great way to improve the look and feel of your bathroom. It can also make your shower easier to clean and maintain, and can even increase the value of your home.

Here are five options for upgrading your shower glass panels and doors:

1. Upgrade to frameless shower doors

Frameless shower doors are more expensive than traditional framed shower doors, but they offer a more modern and luxurious look–which also allows an unobstructed view of your beautiful tile work. Frameless shower doors are also easier to clean, as there are no frames to trap soap scum and mildew–especially if you use our specially coated glass that acts like Teflon repelling mineral build-up and other unsightly debris. Consider a low-iron ultra-clear glass for your shower to give that nothing-there look.

A frosted glass panel can add privacy to your shower without making it feel dark and cramped. Clearlight Glass & Mirror can frost the entire panel or simply add a privacy strip. Consider adding a personal design, like a tree, a landscape, a seascape, or a geometric design to make it your own.

3. Add a patterned glass panel

Patterned glass panels have a textured surface that helps to provide added privacy while camouflaging water spots and stains. Patterned glass panels can also create a more spa-like atmosphere in your bathroom.

4. Add a tinted glass panel

Tinted glass panels can add privacy to your shower and also help to reduce glare. Tinted glass panels create a more dramatic look in your bathroom, especially when frosted or etched, vehicle-highlighted colors in your tiling or bathroom accessories.

5. Upgrade to thicker glass

The most common shower glass thickness is 3/8 of an inch. Shower glass is also available in 1/2 of an inch. Upgrading to thicker glass can make your shower doors more substantial, durable, and beautiful. Making your shower stand out with thicker glass is particularly true if you use ultra-clear low-iron glass in a half-inch thickness.

In addition to these five options, there are a number of other ways to upgrade your shower glass walls and doors. You can add custom hardware, such as towel bars, hooks, and soap dishes. If you are upgrading your shower glass, it is the perfect time to upgrade your hinges, hooks, and handles that may require custom cutouts in the glass.

No matter what your budget or style, there is a shower glass upgrade option that is right for you. By upgrading your shower glass panels and doors, you can improve the look and feel of your bathroom and create a shower that you will love using.

How to clean and maintain shower glass

Shower glass is relatively easy to clean and maintain. To clean your shower glass, simply wipe it down with a damp cloth and a mild soap or glass cleaner–we recommend Dawn dish detergent diluted in water in a spray bottle. You should avoid harsh bleach or vinegar-based solvents. These will damage your hardware, the rubber gaskets, and your sweeps (which prevent water from escaping), not to mention your tile grout. Frequent use of a squeegee to remove excess water helps prevent and reduce water spots, streaks, and mineral buildup.

This cleaning becomes much easier and more effective if you use Clearlight Glass’s special coating on glass that acts similarly to Teflon on cookware. Ask more when you speak with our team or when you visit our design center.

By following these tips, you can choose and maintain shower glass that will look great for years to come.
